Intestinal Diseases
Intestinal cancer is one of the most prevalent types of cancer

Each year about 70.000 men and women in Germany contract intestinal cancer, 30.000 of whom die as a direct result of the disease. Intestinal cancer can develop from benign preliminary stages, so called polyps (proliferations of the intestinal wall). Such polyps are harmless at first. Within years though malignant cancer cells can develop within them. In the early stages these small tumors still remain with the polyps and can be removed easily. Only after some time has passed the cancer spreads to the intestinal wall, lymph nodes and other organs nearby and further away.

The detection and removal of polyps can prevent a colon cancer tumor from developing in more then 80 percent of all cases. Also an early detected intestinal cancer can be cured in 95% of all cases.
